Calendar of Events

KCBA Events

The KCBA generally holds our bar lunches on the first Friday of the month. In addition, our Association hosts a CLE every October addressing issues of legal importance and general interest and follows with a dinner.

Law Day

Our annually celebrated major public event is Law Day, the first Friday in May. In 1958, President Eisenhower proclaimed the creation of Law Day. Since then, our courthouse ceremony has provided an opportunity for the general public and lawyers to participate in a program celebrating our Constitution. We partner with the U.S. Navy in recognizing outstanding members of the service in the area of legal assistance. In addition, the KCBA recognizes a non-lawyer member of the community who is making an outstanding contribution to justice by awarding the recipient with the Liberty Bell Award. Also, students from around Kitsap County compete in an essay contest on topics related to the annual theme identified by the American Bar Association.

Installation Dinner

Our major social event is the annual Installation Dinner, when new officers and trustees (“Board of Trustees” hyperlinked) are installed and other members are recognized for their accomplishments for awards such as: the Professionalism and Humanitarian Award. The event is held the last Friday in January with live music, a silent auction that benefits Kitsap Legal Services. It is consistently well attended and has produced many memorable moments.
